September 2008

Greetings all -

Here are some notes from the Meeting help September 26th, at Ann Mendenhall's. We began the meeting with music by Bernie, playing some beautiful, popular music, and eating the delicious goodies. Thanks to all who contribute to the food every month, and to those who host the meetings!

St. Peter's Anglican

Early Bird registration

deadline

Oct. 10th

Planning is nearly complete - now we need everyone to register their students. Here is how it works:

All the info about the events/workshops/concert/dinner is on the website linked here.  You can also just visit www.cowichanmusicteachers.com   and follow the links at the "History of Music" menu item. Either way you'll see info about the clinicians, the workshops and other events, and a registration form to download. Just as we've done with Pianofest and Songfest, you are asked to collect the registrations and fees from each student, do the on-line registration and then, the week before the concert, hand out the tickets.

Please print out registration forms for each of your students and hand them out this week! (feel free to be a LITTLE flexible with the registration deadline, but they must be entered in the computer, or delivered to Marilyn, by the 15th.)

Anyone who wants to avoid the on-line registering, can bring their completed forms to Marilyn for processing.

We have half a dozen fabulous clinicians, and lots of interest, especially from people who attended the last one. But we need to bring it to the attention of all of our students, and do our work to fill every class, and we'll meet out commitments for fees and expenses.

And if you sing in a choir, please bring it to the attention of your fellow choristers - the Sat. morning is especially for them, but they'll likely enjoy it all!

Sue Doughty  is handling the organizing of volunteers for help with vegetable prep for the stews and people for the door for each class. Please email or call her (746-2326) to volunteer.

Lastly, there are more posters to put up around town(s). Please stop by Marilyn's if you can put up some.

Treasurer's Report:

Thanks to the successful Music Marathon last June, we have enough funds to cover the bursary and award budget of $1500, with the balance to remain in the fund, as a backup for the Music History weekend, and possibly to provide an additional scholarship/bursary to a new Kelsey music student. The committee of Brenda Braaten, Ann Mendenhall and Trisha Daniel will meet to finalize bursaries next week.
